I'm not sure what Vanilla is referring to here. I've tried looking up Vanilla Maximization,, but couldn't find any. Any help is deeply appreciated. Thank you.

Nowadays "vanilla" is used in trade jargon to mean "generic": no strong flavor, no strong features, not offensive and therefore acceptable to everyone.

"Keep it Vanilla" indicates to keep it neutral and acceptable to almost everyone.
